Goldfish Life tells a story about Li Yuling, a Chinese woman in Japan whose main job is to care of the goldfish in a restaurant. She is there to help her daughter who is about to give birth. Author Yang Yi won the prestigious literary Akutagawa Prize in 2008, and is so far the only non-native Japanese speaker to win the award.
